DePauw University is a residential liberal arts college, located near parks, recreational sites, banks, restaurants, coffee shops and fast food restaurants. The Nature Park, acquired by the University in 2003, is often celebrated as the "great escape" by the camaraderie of students, parents, faculty, staff, visitors and community members. Constituents can enjoy using this park for field research, hiking, reflecting, exploring nature in West Central Indiana, or using the meeting facilities for department and organizational retreats. Forty-two majors are offered in the College of Liberal Arts and three-degree programs in the School of Music at DePauw University. A member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), DePauw University is an NCAA Division III program with 21 varsity teams for men and women including Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field (Indoor and Outdoor), and Volleyball. The Monon Bell Classic, a historic contest between DePauw University and Wabash College, is one of the most storied rivalries in college football.
